This Business Development role will be fully responsible for executing new partnerships with an array of strategic partners from distribution platforms for our video services, to unique partners to exploit our owned content rights, and third party consumer products, services, or events (to bundle with our owned services) be it gaming, music, physical goods, retail partners etc…
This is a hands-on role that will require an individual to pair sound judgment, and strong business development skills with the ability to cultivate valuable relationships, externally and internally. This role will lead the entire partnership process, from partner identification to deal execution and ongoing iteration/management of the partnership, following launch. A deep interest in the intersection of media and technology is required, specifically in regard to new digital trends, innovative consumer products, new technologies, and game-changing entertainment experiences.
The right individual will need to be a true professional, a visionary, who is fearless and confident, while demonstrating an incredible sense of humility, sensibility and desire to be an incredible ally to all external partners. In addition to strong personal skills, success in this role will be dependent upon attention to detail, thoughtful quantitative analysis, market research, a strong subjective filter, ability to prioritize, internal influence and the willingness to dive into each aspect of the partnership from legal and finance, to product and marketing. The right candidate will roll-up their sleeves, obsess over every detail, execute at a high level and build something truly special and innovative for consumers and specifically, our fans.
Lead the entire strategic partnership process: from partner identification to deal execution, inclusive formulating a business strategy via quantitative analysis and building the initial pitch deck, to managing all product and promotional marketing components of the launch, and then continuing to grow and evolve the partnership for years to come.
Create scalable partnership opportunities and programs, while obtaining internal buy-in to amplify subscriber growth and user adoption (and potentially create new lines of revenue).
Grow and manage a pipeline of valuable strategic partner opportunities to engage in order to grow the subscription business, increase revenue, add new users to the Ellation owned services and increase awareness of our brands via marketing presence and promotional campaigns.
Must be comfortable working across all divisions of the external partner, from scheduling initial meetings, to engaging and working closely with product, engineering or marketing teams and presenting the partner opportunity to C-Levels, in order to close the deal.
While the majority of time and effort will be applied externally, aligning with and working closely with internal teams will be critical. Specifically, negotiating the deal with legal, building the business case with finance, balancing product support and resources, strategically engaging with marketing and PR teams to ensure detailed execution and partner support.
Craft external partner presentations, internal strategy roadmaps, and report on partner performance as it relates to subscription, new user and/or brand growth, to justify value.
Understand, advocate, and embody the company's values and team goals.
Must be an incredible team player.
5-8 years experience in a media, entertainment or technology related professional environment.
Strong communication skills, incredible attention to detail and a track-record of self-motivation to go far and beyond to drive partner success.
Must be able to take initiative with minimal direction, seek out information from various sources (internal and external) and demonstrate exceptional follow through and execution.
Excellent problem-solving skills, high-judgement, and the ability to multitask and prioritize a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment.
Comfort with managing all aspects of the deal close and from negotiation to working closely with legal to paper and execute the partnership.
Experience with to create and present detailed information to Executive level audiences.
Passion for the digital media industry, specifically with direct to consumer focused businesses.
Mastery of verbal, written and visual communication skills including the ability to cultivate internal and external relationships.
MBA preferred, 4 Year College Degree in business, marketing, finance or related field.
